FIRST CHURCH OF ZLATOUST IN CHELYABINSK, RUSSIA
A "Twining" Relationship with Zlatoust
Since 2005, following reciprocal study trips, the Oxford Presbyterian Church has been developing a "Twinning" relationship with the First Church of Zlatoust, Chelyabinsk, Russia and the Bishop of the Chelyabinsk region. Zlatoust, located 800 miles east of Moscow near Asia, is in the heavy industry region of modern Russia.
Thus far the "Twinning" effort has included congregation education programs, shared worship via telephone, pulpit exchanges, mutual support programs for the orphanages of Zlatoust, exchanges of greetings and current events, support for the Chelyabinsk Institute, and presentations from PC (USA) missionaries.
During 2012, the Mission and Outreach Committee will further develop this relationship and has, as one goal, a study trip planned for 2013.
