Partner Church in Colombia

We worshipped via a video hook-up with our sister church in Colombia.

SEVENTH PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH IN BARRANQUILLA, COLOMBIA

A Partnership

The "Colombia Partnership" was started in 1995 when the Presbytery of the Miami Valley and the Presbytery of the North Coast in Colombia formed a partnership covenant. As part of this covenant, Miami Valley churches were paired with churches in Colombia. Our church was paired with the Seventh Presbyterian Church in Barranquilla, Colombia.

The covenant is primarily relational, a commitment to form lasting friendships north and south, to communicate needs and prayer concerns, and to support each other in ministry. We travel back and forth and we learn much from each other!

One way that we work with our sister church is to support the Goel Project, a ministry of the Seventh Church that reaches out to help children in a poor area of Barranquilla.

We’ve also had the joy of forming long-term friendships with some of the Colombian young adults who have lived in the United States. Alexander Steffanel and Carmen Guerrera attended Miami University and both of their sons were born in Oxford. Omar David and Mario Bolivar worked at our Presbytery church camp, Kirkmont, and have both married and settled in the Dayton, Ohio area.

A highlight to our relationship has been when we’ve had the chance to worship with our Seventh Church brothers and sisters. We’ve gone high tech with this, using Skype to share our worship together in real time.

Anyone interested is welcome to join the leadership team for the partnership. There is much going on and even more planned. Please contact Mark Barnes, (513) 523-6364, Pastor, for more information.
